Experiencing Proprioception through Spatial Action
Course type: MA Artistic Project
This course invites students to explore how we perceive our body’s position and movement in space – through both practical and theoretical approaches. The focus is on experiencing proprioception, understanding the associated sensory systems, and attuning to multisensory awareness.
Working in groups, students will translate these experiences into artistic form, developing exercises and sculptural objects or intermedial situations that make proprioceptive experiences tangible. Central to this process is exploring bodily knowledge as it appears in gesture and posture, and the question of how bodies orient and move across multiple spatial concepts.
Weekly meetings serve as a ground for experimenting with different approaches, exchanging observations, and reflecting on individual experiences. The course emphasizes everyday experience, theoretical inquiry, experimental practice, and the ongoing development of projects.
