CDP // Energy

Simulation-based design in an urban context, taking into account aspects of energy and climate

Already in the early, creative urban design phases, decisions taken, in addition to the high relevance with regard to effort and structure for subsequent planning phases, also have a decisive influence on the energetic and indoor climatic quality of the buildings. These aspects, however, are neglected in the early stages of planning, especially at an urban development level, or they are only inadequately considered. Within the framework of this research project the „CDP // Collaborative Design Platform“, an urban development-oriented computer platform designed by the Chair for Architectural Informatics, is to be expanded by an additional interdisciplinary cooperation with the chair of building technology and climate-friendly construction become. The overarching goal is to optimize the urban planning, energetic and spatial optimization of projects in the early planning phase. For the first time, the research approach combines the evaluation of exterior space quality, interior quality and energy efficiency at an urban development level - seamlessly integrated into a creative computer-assisted interdisciplinary planning phase.
