Time-based Presence
Presence is understood as something that arises dynamically through movement, interaction, and shifting attention, rather than as a fixed state. It can be experienced, activated or mediated physically, emotionally, or through directed attention. In this course, students develop artistic projects that focus on physical and spatial experiences. By examining the interplay between bodies – space – perception, various modes of presence will be explored.
A central focus lies on the multimodality of perception and embodied experiences. Alongside the question of what makes presence come alive, the course investigates how mixed realities transform states of presence and what new layers emerge – both spatially and in the ways individuals engage with environments.
Through time-based artistic projects, students explore how presence can be experienced, staged, and reconfigured. Works in all artistic media are welcome.
Students develop individual or group projects, which will be exhibited at the end of the semester. Group meetings take place on a weekly basis.
