Summer Semester 2026

Additive Manufacturing in Construction 1

The lecture and seminar introduce additive manufacturing methods in construction, covering materials science, fabrication-oriented design principles, toolpath strategies, robotic kinematics, and on-site and off-site application scenarios, while the practical part has participants develop printable geometries, research material compositions, create slicing strategies, and conduct design experiments through robot simulations and 3D printing trials.
Digital Fabrication Research

In the course "Digital Fabrication Research", students investigate selected scientific questions from the Professorship of Digital Fabrication on computational design methods, digital workflows, robotic assembly, additive manufacturing, and new material and construction systems, learn to independently research a topic scientifically, and document their results in reports, presentations, and prototypes.
Reading Group

The seminar "Reading Group: Machines, Materiality & Making" introduces critical perspectives on digital fabrication in architecture, focusing on the interplay between machines, materiality, and making through curated readings and discussions on robotic construction, material agency, automation, machine intelligence, and sustainable fabrication processes.
