Thinking Open Space Vertically – New Perspectives through Vertical Open Spaces
Reflecting on verticality – that is, shifting our perspective upward – expands space and opens up new ways of seeing. This change in perspective also makes it possible to rethink the future of urban open spaces. If open spaces that have so far been conceived horizontally are extended into the vertical dimension, new and inspiring perspectives emerge. In view of pressing social and climatic challenges worldwide, these new approaches are more necessary than ever, as new answers must be found to ensure that living well together in the city remains possible in the future.
These ideas formed the basis of an exhibition contribution and the accompanying publication "Freiraum vertikal denken" at the Akademie der Künste Berlin, in collaboration with the Technical University of Munich.
