Project Management in the public building sector (3ECTS)
The seminar uses a concrete public construction project to teach the fundamentals of project management as well as the structures and processes of public construction. The practical teaching content focuses on the following three areas:
1. general conditions of public construction
- Actors, processes and interrelationships in public construction
- Important laws, guidelines and standards (e.g. DIN 276, HOAI, AHO, VOB, RLBau/RBBau)
- Awarding procedures for construction and services (VOB, awarding manuals, awarding platform)
2. key points of project management
- Organisation
- Communication
- Requirements planning and functional diagrams
- Scheduling/controlling
- Cost planning/controlling with tools for cost determination
- Quality assurance
3. field trip
- Site visit to a major public project
- Exchange of experience with client and project management
