Cut-Up City
Design Studio
A closer look at the everyday spaces of the city and the heterogeneous mixed-use areas that once formed its urban fringe. These are places that will continue to shape the quality of urban life in the future and therefore deserve increased attention from planners. In this interdisciplinary studio, students of architecture and landscape architecture explored visions for compact urban living.
What conditions are needed to create liveable environments for living and working? How can existing and new structures be conceived as part of a coherent urban fabric? And how can social cohesion be fostered in the city?
Urban design concepts addressing these questions were developed for a representative site of approximately 26 hectares in the south of Munich, located at the interface between the districts of Obergiesing and Ramersdorf-Perlach.
The studio was conducted in collaboration with the Chair of Landscape Architecture and Industrial Landscapes (LAI), Prof. Dr. Udo Weilacher.
Results
Images without explicit attribution were produced by the Chair of Sustainable Urbanism at the Technical University of Munich or present comparisons of design proposals developed by the students listed below.
