Riverside Living - in Brandenburg an der Havel
The western city centre Brandenburg, located at the confluence of several waterways and serving as the gateway to the 2015 Federal Garden Show (Bundesgartenschau, BUGA), became the site for design proposals exploring new forms of living, working, and recreation.
The site offered considerable potential through its strategic location, the remarkable yet vacant building stock of the former public swimming pool, power station, and tram depot, as well as the city’s plans for new public programmes and complementary forms of housing. Building on these opportunities, the students developed additional ideas through site explorations and their own research.
Results
Images without explicit attribution were produced by the Chair of Sustainable Urbanism at the Technical University of Munich or present comparisons of design proposals developed by the students listed below.
