Für die vertiefte Bearbeitung von städtebaulichen Fragen bietet das Studium meist nur wenig Raum. Dabei erlaubt erst der Blick hinter die Kulissen von Umbauprozessen im Siedlungsraum das Nachvollziehen vieler Entscheide: Welche Gründe führen zu architektonischem Konzeptentscheid oder Formgebung? Welche Infrastruktureinrichtungen können entstehen, welche nicht? Was ermöglicht oder behindert die Nutzung des Freiraums? Wer nutzt den öffentlich Raum, wann? Welches sind gut Referenzprojekte und Best-Case-Lösungen für ein städtebauliches Problem?
Das Fach Spezialfragen Sustainable Urbanism gibt den Studierenden die Möglichkeit, anhand einer selbst gestellten und mit dem Betreuer ausgearbeiteten Aufgabenstellung einen solchen Einblick im Rahmen einer individuellen Seminararbeit zu bekommen. Das Format eignet sich daher im Besonderen für die Recherche und Vorbereitung zu einer freien Projektarbeit oder Masterarbeit. Die Abgabeleistung wird mit dem Dozierenden abgesprochen und Hilfestellungen zur fundierten Erarbeitung der Thematik gegeben.
Im Sommersemester 2020 wird neu eine Auswahl an möglichen Themenschwerpunkten gegeben und ein Fahrplan zur Erarbeitung für das Semester vorgeschlagen.

Die Durchführung des Faches ist in Deutsche oder Englisch möglich. Alle Informationen werden zweisprachig zur Verfügung gestellt.

Sustainable Urbanism Special Topics
The regular degree programs usually offers little space for in-depth processing of urban planning and urban design issues. However, only a look behind the scenes of reconstruction processes in the settlement area allows you to understand many decisions: What conditions lead to an architectural concept decision? Which infrastructure facilities may be established and which cannot? What enables or hinders the use of free space? Who uses public space at what time and for what purpose? Which are good reference projects and best case solutions for a particular urban planning problem?
The subject of Special Questions Sustainable Urbanism gives the students the opportunity to gain such insight as part of an individual research work and preparation of a seminar paper based on a task they have identified themselves and framed together with the class instructor.
Only topics within the Sustainable Urbanism realm will be accepted.
The course is therefore particularly suitable for individual research projects or preparation for the thesis project. The outcome of the. course is discussed with the lecturer and individually agreed. Support is offered for the well-founded development of the topic.
In the summer semester 2020, a selection of possible focal topics will be given and a road map for the semester will be proposed.
