"The Dense City"
The Chair of Urban Architecture focuses on the conditions of the architecture of the contemporary city at all planning scales. All teaching formats (lectures, project work, seminars, week and day excursions) contribute to the development of architectural ideas of the "Dense City". Urban architecture is primarily analyzed, understood, and further developed in its concrete three-dimensional form as a complex human artefact. The theoretical and historical understanding of architecture and city underpins the development of architectural and urban projects. The aim of the project and seminar work is the acquisition of a methodologically based knowledge of the development parameters of the shape of urban architecture and urban space on the level of the city as a whole, the neighborhood, the building and its details. The resulting criteria support the design process in the urban context.
