2009-2012 Visualization of networks

Topic: Knowledge and innovations arise from the interaction of people. The understanding of this process begins with its illustration. Based on the cooperative relationships between companies and research institutions, visual methods are developed to understand and communicate these complex processes.

Brief description: Socio-economic networks are often very complex and in many cases difficult to grasp. Therefore, the research project develops prototypical methods to convey the structures of networks and the results of network analysis in a meaningful way. The innovative approach lies in the dovetailing of topological findings with spatial and sector-related information. Network analysis, statistical methods, geographical information systems and visualisation methods are used. The visual approach could be used in further projects.
