Description

The basic project Urban Landscape deals with the long-term, strategic development of a selected city-region. The semester is divided into three work phases: (1) a thematic-spatial analysis, (2) a systemic consideration of future development, and (3) the design of a spatial strategy. Students work together in groups for each phase.

The semester goal is to develop a multi-scale view and in-depth understanding of the study area and its regional interconnectedness. The focus is on the development of alternative visions of the future and the elaboration of a spatial strategy with necessary interventions for the municipality, civil society and the private sector.

Teaching and learning methods

In the project students work in groups or self-study. There are different learning and teaching methods. As well as graphical and textual work statistical calculations, questionnaires, photo and video works, presentations and excursions are possible. The project is structured as assignment, corrections, feedback and final critique. The student presentation is one of the essential parts of the project. The project can incorporate public presentation and exhibitions.

Examination

The final written hand-in, poster, model (where applicable) and final presentation are considered accordingly for the mark.
