Medienbasiertes Promovieren an der Professur Architecture and Design, TUM
Die Professur Architecture and Design AND an der Technischen Universität München lädt zur Einreichung von Bewerbungen für medienbasierte und praxisorientierte Dissertationen ein. Für dieses innovative Format begrüßt das Team der Professur Themen und Ansätze, die Forschung und Praxis im Feld der Architektur und Design auf produktive Weise miteinander verbinden.
Die Doktorarbeiten befassen sich mit einem der beiden Forschungsfeldern: bio-basierte Baustoffe, sowie regionale und zirkuläre Wertschöpfungsketten. Die Professur AND ist ausdrücklich an medienbasierten Dissertationen interessiert, bei der Methodiken der erkenntnisorientierten, transferfähigen und praxisbezogenen Forschung angewandt werden. Eine medienbasierte Dissertation besteht aus einer schriftlichen wissenschaftlichen Arbeit in Kombination mit einem anderen Medium, insbesondere einer dauerhaft dokumentierten gestalterischen Leistung. Dies umfasst: neue Materialien, Produktentwicklung, Gebäude, Videoarbeiten, Interviewreihen forschungsbasierte Ausstellungen, Bildungs- und Vermittlungsangebote, Workshops oder Publikationen.

Ihre Bewerbung sollte Folgendes enthalten:

- Forschungsexposé (2-3 Seiten) inklusive:
- Arbeitstitel
- Kontext und Relevanz des Forschungsprojektes
- Art und Weise des Mediums
- Forschungsansatz, Methoden
- Forschungsfrage im Detail und Arbeits-Hypothesen
- Grober Zeitplan
- Portfolio mit Arbeitsproben im Bezug zum ausgewählten Medium (2-5 Seiten)

Media-based doctoral studies at the Professorship of Architecture and Design, TUM
The Professorship of Architecture and Design (AND) at the Technical University of Munich invites applications for media-based and practice-based dissertations in the field of architecture and design. For this innovative format the team of the professorship welcomes themes and approaches that combine practice and research in the field of architecture and design in a productive way.
Doctoral dissertations should address one of two research fields: Bio-based Materials, and Regional Circular Value Chains. Media-based dissertations apply methodologies of knowledge-producing, transferable, and practice-based research. A media-based dissertation consists of a written scholarly work in combination with another medium, especially a permanently documented creative achievement. This includes: new building materials, product developments, fully realized buildings, video documentaries, interviews, research-based exhibitions, educational and participatory formats, workshops, and publications.

Your application should include the following:
- Letter of motivation outlining your motivation and interest in doing research at the Chair of Architecture and Design. (max. 1 page)
- Curriculum vitae, if applicable publications, exhibitions, workshops, awards (1-3 pages)
- Research synopsis (2-3 pages) including:
- Working title
- Context and relevance of the research project
- Type and nature of the medium
- Research approach, methods
- Research question in detail and working hypotheses
- Rough time schedule, if applicable
- Portfolio with work samples related to the selected medium (2-5 pages)
In total no more than 12 pages DIN A4 portrait format.
