Institutions

The Department of Architecture operates a variety of facilities to advance its own and interdisciplinary research. These include documenting, archiving and experimental facilities. Together they provide a powerful infrastructure that also supports the teaching of architecture.

As a location and meeting-point for everyone interested in architecture, the Architekturmuseum der TUM housed in the Pinakothek der Moderne since 2002 offers a wide and varied program of rotating exhibitions supplemented by publications, guided tours, discussion forums, lectures and other events. Due to its unique status as Germany's only university institution with archives and exhibition rooms, the Architekturmuseum der TUM unites collections, teaching and research. more 

The Design Factory is a hub connecting research, teaching and implementation of architectural and design-based projects at the Department of Architecture. more

 

Pavilion 333 was planned as a DesignBuild project at the TUM Department of Architecture and realized next to the Pinakothek der Moderne as a temporary and collaboratively used mediation space for architecture, art and design. The pavilion favors cooperation between the local cultural institutions and offers low-threshold programs, exchange and encounters for visitors to the Munich Kunstareal.

The A.M. owns the biggest research archive for architecture in Germany. Due to the bequests of important architects’ estates the collection is continually growing. Including documents from the 16th century  the collection comprises ca. 600.000 drawings and plans of approximately 2500 architects, over 255.000 photographs as well as over 1800 models. more

At the TUM Venture Labs, TUM scientists and students are provided with support for entrepreneurial spin-offs in various technology-based areas. The Venture Lab Built Environment is the central platform for young entrepreneurs developing technologies and solutions for the urbanity of the future. more
