Elena Schirnding de Almeida studied architecture at the Technical University of Munich and the Universidade Federal do Paraná in Brazil from 2004 to 2010. After freelance work for the Architecture Biennale in Venice and as a planning architect, she passed the Grand State Examination in the field of urban planning after her legal clerkship at the City of Munich. From 2014 to 2019 she worked as head of the department of building construction in the state building administration. Since 2019 she has been head of the Public Planning Lab, an interdisciplinary seminar for trainee architects, at the Chair of Urban Design.
