Carolin Schelkle, M.A.
Carolin Schelkle is a designer and material researcher working at the intersection of bioregional design, circular economy, and regenerative practices. Her work focuses on developing innovative design approaches that address environmental, economic, and social challenges through the lens of local material cultures and value chains. She is particularly engaged in transdisciplinary structures that aim to create sustainable, place-based solutions for regional futures.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Product and Communication Design from the Free University of Bolzano and a Master in Product Design from ECAL (École cantonale d’art de Lausanne). She has contributed to various international research and design projects, notably as a material researcher at Atelier LUMA in Arles, where she explores bioregional strategies and bio-based materials.
As a practice-based PhD candidate at the Professorship of Architecture and Design at the Technical University of Munich, she investigates the valorisation of underutilised sheep wool through circular and local value chains.
