Yanlin Liu, M.A. TUM
Yanlin Liu completed her Master’s degree in architecture at the Technical University of Munich in 2023, supported by a DAAD scholarship. Her thesis marked the beginning of her research into rural design with bio-based materials. She previously earned a Bachelor’s degree in Beijing, China, where she received a National Scholarship and a CSC scholarship for a thesis semester at Ulster University, Belfast. Alongside her studies, she gained practical experience at offices in China, Berlin, and Munich, including gmp Architekten and KSP ENGEL, and received several national and international awards for her design work. Building on her previous academic investigations, her current doctoral research at the Professorship of Architecture and Design at TUM, starting in Oct. 2024, explores interdisciplinary strategies for rural retrofitting through bioregional approaches, focusing on bio-based materials, agricultural byproducts, spatial justice, and participatory Lo-TEK construction.
