Exhibition: F*Map – Women in Architecture Festival 2025
The Women in Architecture Festival calls on everyone to help make architecture and urban planning more diverse and equitable together.
Architecture is never neutral—it shapes who belongs and who doesn’t. It reflects and reinforces existing power structures, often making marginalized perspectives invisible. But what happens when we challenge these norms? The exhibition F*Map brings together student-led and research-based projects that rethink architectural practice through feminist, queer, and decolonial perspectives. Developed as part of a seminar at TUM’s Department of Architecture, the exhibition explores feminist spatial practices as a tool for resistance, visibility, and transformation. At the core of F*Map is a Counter-Culture Map—a collaborative framework that collects, categorizes, and connects projects that disrupt dominant architectural narratives. By mapping these works, we highlight alternative approaches to spatial design and architectural education, revealing new possibilities for an inclusive, socially engaged built environment.
Through diverse mediums—text, models, audiovisual installations, and interactive elements—the exhibition invites visitors to engage with these critical spatial practices. It asks: How can mapping be an act of feminist resistance? How do we exhibit architecture in a way that fosters dialogue and inclusivity? What stories remain untold in traditional architectural discourse?
The exhibition is part of the Women in Architecture Festival 2025.

This exhibition is a collective effort by the Chair of History of Architecture and Curatorial Practice, students, researchers at the Department of Architecture of the TUM School of Engineering and Design, and the collective SOFT: School of Transformation. It is an invitation to rethink and reshape architectural narratives—because the spaces we design determine the stories we tell.
