The Future of Construction // Symposium // 13.09.-15.09.2023
The Future of Construction 2023 Symposium provides a platform to discuss novel human-machine collaborations in design and construction. Together we will raise questions about how complementary skills—the accuracy and speed of machines and their ability to crunch large amounts of data, jointly with our capacity as humans to solve problems creatively, flexibly, and collaboratively—can affect the ecologically, economically, and socially sustainable development of the built environment. It is a continuation of a series of events that first occurred at ETH Zurich in 2022 and is now taking place at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) from September 13 to 15, 2023. It will be held in hybrid mode, with participants from academia, start-ups, and the construction industry.

Nachhaltigkeit in der Baupraxis beim öffentlichen Auftraggeber // Symposium // KoBi // 21.06.-22.06.2023
In collaboration between the TUM Cluster Sustainable Real Estate, led by Prof. Konrad Nübel, and KoBi/DGA-Bau, led by Dieter Grömling, a two-day symposium will take place in June 2023. The symposium focuses on achieving sustainability in construction practices for public clients. Meeting climate goals significantly depends on a successful digital and ecological transformation of the construction industry. This transformation process requires broad participation from individuals with comprehensive oversight and assessment skills, along with the ability to collaborate across disciplines in a practical manner. Phase 0, which involves thorough needs assessment and decisions regarding construction tasks, plays a crucial role. It is during this phase that decisions can and must be made to ensure sustainability integrated throughout the entire lifecycle of the project. Given these challenges, the symposium serves as a marketplace for open discussions and gaining insights.
Day 1: June 21, 2023, 09:30-19:30
Location: TU Munich, Venture Lab (Room 2329, Entrance Gabelsbergerstr.), 80333 Munich
Day 2: June 22, 2023, 09:00-16:30
Location: Max-Planck-Gesellschaft (Hofgartenstr. 8, Auditorium EG), 80539 Munich
The program will conclude with a post-symposium discussion and reflection session on July 5, 2023, from 16:00 to 19:00 at the Haus der Kulturen in Munich.
Here you can find more information and the program.

Datenkooperativen // 17th Colloquium Investor-Hochschule-Bauindustrie // 11.07.2023
Currently, the buzzword "digitalization" is widely associated with hopes for fundamental improvements across all aspects of social, political, administrative, and economic life. At the same time, it is undisputed that merely transferring existing processes into the virtual realm offers no positive perspective on its own. It is only through transforming how the many stakeholders interact in a way that ensures safety and efficiency within the digital environment that the potential for further development can be realized. This applies equally across various sectors of our society, particularly in the construction and real estate industry. Therefore, the 17th Colloquium "Investor - University - Construction Industry" this year focuses on an initiative to establish a federated data cooperative for this sector.

16th Colloquium Investor-Hochschule-Bauindustrie // 21.09.2022
Today, the political and economic reality underscores the crucial role that the construction and real estate sectors play in modern society's value creation. Energy and sustainability projects, currently demanded and promoted promptly, are inherently linked with construction activities. However, these activities are subject to the typical planning, approval, and realization processes prevalent in the construction industry. Increasing regulation at both European and national levels is progressively hindering swift and flexible development of construction and development projects that could meet the needs of our time.
The 16th Colloquium "Investor-University-Construction Industry," organized by the Chair for Construction Process Management and the Chair for Real Estate Development at the Technical University of Munich in collaboration with the Bavarian Construction Industry Association (Bayerischer Bauindustrieverband e.V.), will take place at the Oskar von Miller Forum. The event aims to discuss fundamental methods and tools for expedited planning and construction.
The target audience includes investors, public building administration, clients, engineering firms, architects, consultants, banks, financial service providers, entrepreneurs in the construction and real estate sectors, as well as academia. Registration is available via the website: www.bauindustrie-bayern.de/k2022. For more information, please refer to the program.
Symposium "BAUEN DER ZUKUNFT" // 16.09.2022 // TUM
TU Munich, UnternehmerTUM, and Knauf invite you to the "BAUEN DER ZUKUNFT" Symposium at the TUM Audimax. One of society's central challenges is to provide affordable and sustainable housing. Rising construction and energy costs necessitate innovative solutions and holistic approaches in both new construction and renovation. Finding paths towards a carbon-neutral future requires not only material innovations but also increased connectivity and comprehensive cross-company approaches to system integration.
This symposium aims to highlight the significant challenges and opportunities in addressing this task. Contributions from politics (BMWK), the construction and building materials industry (B&O, Max Bögl, Viessmann, Uponor, Knauf), universities, and the startup scene will emphasize where priorities should be set. The symposium targets decision-makers and experts from politics, industry, and academia, as well as urban planners, investors, project developers, architects, and students, with the goal of presenting solutions for building the future amidst current challenges.
Participation in the symposium is free of charge. Tickets are available on a first-come-first-served basis: https://www.eventbrite.de/e/symposium-bauen-der-zukunft-tickets-390280789347.
