Water Ever Franschhoek - Studio Kéré SoSe 2026

In the spring semester of 2026, Water Ever continues its exploration of designing with water by shifting its focus to South Africa, specifically the region of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek.
In collaboration with the University of Cape Town and the Chair of Urban Water Systems Engineering at TUM, the studio engages with the Water Hub Franschhoek, a low-tech wastewater filtration system that reuses treated water for irrigation on site. The project represents an innovative approach to decentralized water management and has attracted growing international attention.
Building on this, the semester addresses the future development of the Water Hub site. Students from both Bachelor and Master programs work within a real-world context, engaging with stakeholders to design proposals that respond to the site’s increasing visibility and use. The projects range from masterplanning to the design of visitor infrastructure, including research spaces, accommodation, and sanitation facilities.
