Invitation to the lecture by AMAA on November 10, 2025.
AMAA is a collaborative architecture office for research and development based in Venice and was created in 2012 by Marcello Galiotto and Alessandra Rampazzo.
In 2015, they established AMAA Workshop in Arzignano near Vicenza, in northern Italy, and in 2024, they opened a pop-up office in New York. Their professional practice has always been closely intertwined with academic research and an ongoing collaboration with academic institutions. They currently teach at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
Over the years, AMAA has received numerous national and international awards, including first prize in the 2020 Young Italian Architects competition, later published in "Casabella". In 2022, their project Threshold and Treasure—the transformation of an existing structure into Atipografia, a contemporary art gallery—was featured in "area" and "Domus" and was recognized as a finalist at the 2023 Premio Italiano di Architettura MAXXI/Triennale. The project for the Verdi Theater in Terni was exhibited at 10 architetture italiane, curated by Ghidoni, Molteni, and Pizzigoni, at Triennale Milano. In 2023, AMAA was selected by director Lesley Lokko to participate in the 18th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale, affirming its role in the global
architectural discourse.
In 2024, AMAA completed the restoration of Caffè Nazionale, bringing new life to the historic café in the heart of Arzignano. Their work has recently gained increasing recognition, with numerous publications in leading Italian and international architecture journals.
