Invitation to the lecture by Jure Grohar from Vidic Grohar Arhitekti on November 18, 2024.
Together with the Ljubljana based office Mertlej Vrabič Arhitekti, Vidic Grohar Arhitekti designed the Slovenian Pavilion “+/- 1 °C: In Search of Well-Tempered Architecture” at the 18th Venice Biennale in 2023.
Vidic Grohar Arhitekti was founded in Ljubljana in 2016 by Anja Vidic, who is teaching at the Ljubljana Faculty of Architecture, and Jure Grohar PhD architect. In their projects, they do not follow a pre-set architectural agenda, but freely develop new specific architectural, design, and curatorial solutions through the rearticulation of given situations. As design critics they were invited and held lectures at the University of Limerick, TU Dublin, MOME Budapest, TU Berlin and TU Vienna. Their work has been presented in several exhibitions and publications, most recently as part of the international project Objects of Fascination in Brussels (MAD Brussels) and Paris (Pavillon de l'Arsenal), and the New Praxes, New Tools event in Ljubljana (ŠKUC Gallery), Berlin (AEDES Metrolab), and Vienna (TU Vienna).
Maša Mertelj and Matic Vrabič founded Mertelj Vrabič Arhitekti in 2015, Eva Gusel started working with Mertelj Vrabič Arhitekti in 2019. Since its foundation, the office has realized numerous renovations and exhibition design projects, which are regularly published in Slovenian and international magazines. As design critics they were invited and held lectures at the University of Limerick, TU Dublin, MOME Budapest, TU Berlin, TU Vienna and TU Munich. The firm was selected for presentation in the Carnets publication Architecture Is Just a Pretext, which presents 30 young European practices and was part of the New Praxis, New Tools project in Ljubljana, Berlin, and Vienna.
MONTAGSREIHE is a series of lectures at the Department of Architecture. Thematically, it is mostly focused on young offices that can give an insight into the beginnings of their practice in addition to their work. The series is intended as an enriching contribution to the Munich architectural discourse between architects, students and architecture enthusiasts.
