Project Management in the public building sector (3ECTS)

The seminar uses a concrete public construction project to teach the fundamentals of project management as well as the structures and processes of public construction. The practical teaching content focuses on the following three areas:

1. general conditions of public construction

  • Actors, processes and interrelationships in public construction
  • Important laws, guidelines and standards (e.g. DIN 276, HOAI, AHO, VOB, RLBau/RBBau)
  • Awarding procedures for construction and services (VOB, awarding manuals, awarding platform)
  • Importance of project development
  • Construction requirements and functional diagrams
  • Construction expertise as a foundation for successful project development
  • The material wood in public construction projects

2. key points of project management

  • Organization
  • Communication
  • Cost and schedule planning

3. construction cost management

  • Tools of cost determination
  • Mechanisms of cost control and management
  • Cost risks and uncertainties
