TURNHALLE TSV 1860 MÜNCHEN E.V.
Project BA - Architecture and Timber Construction
Winter term 25/26 (12 ECTS)
With more than 24,000 members, Turn- und Sportverein von 1860 München is one of Munich's largest recreational sports clubs and offers over 50 different types of sport, ranging from recreational to competitive. For years, there has been a need for a new sports hall that meets the club's requirements. This project recently came back into the public eye due to discussions about a possible change of investor. In this design studio of the Chair of Architecture and Timber Construction in the winter semester 2025/26, a three-court gymnasium with adjoining rooms for administration and club activities is to be developed on the training grounds on Grünwalder Straße. Particular attention will be paid to sustainable construction methods that address the strategies of sufficiency, efficiency and consistency, thus demonstrating new constructive approaches to sports facility construction. Students are invited to explore the multifaceted potential of this project for Giesing and the TSV club based there, thereby creating added value.
The design project is being carried out in cooperation with Turn- und Sportverein München von 1860 e.V.
