Interactive Visualization
The seminar explores the intersection of architecture, extended reality (XR), and digital culture. It engages with fundamental questions such as what constitutes virtual architecture? and examines how architectural thinking can inform the design of immersive, shared digital spaces. Through research and prototype development, students investigate the potential of XR as a medium for spatial experience, representation, and collaboration.
This semester, in collaboration with the Museum Fünf Kontinente and the National Museum of Ghana, we will focus on designing and building a digital exhibition space. Using 3D scans of cultural objects from Ghana, students are invited to experiment with how virtual architecture can curate, contextualize, and create connections across continents. The seminar challenges participants to think beyond physical constraints: How can we craft a spatial narrative in XR? What forms of interaction, immersion, and exchange can emerge in a purely digital museum environment? Together, we will prototype a digital museum that demonstrates how architectural design can redefine the museum experience within virtual space.
