Mareike Schmidt is a research associate and architect. Her research focuses on transdisciplinary and sustainable transformatition of urban neighborhood.  In this context, she examines street experiments and real-world laboratories as urban planning tools, as well as the associated discourses, processes, and impacts. Mareike has been a research associate at the professorship since 2021. She is writing her dissertation on the MCube AQT real-world laboratory, which she led from 2021 to 2024 together with Marco Kellhammer. Since 2024, Mareike Schmidt has been leading the MCube MOSAIQ project together with Stefanie Ruf.


Mareike Schmidt studied architecture with a focus on urban planning at the University of Stuttgart and completed her Master of Science degree in 2016. She worked at UTA Architekten und Stadtplaner in Stuttgart and at bogevischs buero in Munich. She is a registered architect with the Bavarian Chamber of Architects. She assisted with teaching at the Professorship of Urban Design from 2019 to 2021
