International Workshop | Student competition “EXPO 67 Montreal” | September 15 – 24, 2025

The case of the Musée d’art ou Pavillon Le Génie Créateur de l’Homme | The case of the Art Museum Pavilion. A Conservation and Restoration strategy for the area of the World’s Fair of Montreal (EXPO 67)
The International Workshop | Student Competition “EXPO 67 Montreal” is organized by the École d’architecture de l’Université Laval in Québec and the Technische Universität München, in collaboration with DOCOMOMO Quebec, ICOMOS Germany, and is supported by the Mobilitätsprogramms “Bayern– Québec” of the Bayerische Forschungsallianz (BayFOR). The case of the Pavillon Le Génie Créateur de l’Homme will be investigated in detail looking for a repurposing strategy for the building and the site of the EXPO 67 as a whole. A particular deal of attention will be paid to strategies for a critical reappropriation of the site by citizens, all the while raising awareness in people beyond its iconic meaning and as a place looking for a new identity. This significant legacy of one’s past is under threat of being demolished and in a state of neglect looking for being reinserted into the daily life of people. Because of this, a strategy aiming at reconciling the site with the city will be researched
