Robust, User-friendly and Cost-effective HVAC in Buildings

The costs of technical building equipment have risen disproportionately sharply in recent years, without the associated expectations of high energy efficiency and a high level of user comfort being met across the board. This discrepancy between planned and actually realized energy efficiency, often described as a "performance gap," is increasingly being widely discussed among experts.

An exploratory study is therefore intended to identify and develop strategies and measures that will lead to buildings that are largely robust in the face of individual errors in technical components, unexpected user behavior and climatic changes. At the same time, these buildings should ensure the most energy-efficient operation possible and good thermal comfort both in the heating period and in summer.

In the consideration, both the regulatory framework and the costs over the entire life cycle (LCC) have to be taken into account.
