Scientists Meet Scientists – TUM-IAS Wednesday Coffee Talk

Prof. Anna Keune (Learning Sciences and Educational Design Technologies) and Prof. Pierluigi D'Acunto held a talk titled "Some of them were too simple’: Architecture students design structures with everyday objects" as part of the format "Scientists Meet Scientists". Educational approaches that integrate both architectural design expertise and structural engineering principles are lacking. First-year undergraduate architecture students' application of structural principles were investigated as they designed structural balancing structures with everyday objects.

Now available: Conceptual Design of Structures

"Conceptual Design of Structures", edited by Prof. Pierluigi D’Acunto, Dr. Patrick Ole Ohlbrock and Roland Pawlitschko, is about working at the interface between structural engineering, architecture, and art. The book seeks to answer the complex question of what needs to be considered when conceiving a building structure. The book thus sheds light on the topic of multidisciplinary interrelationships in design, showing numerous different perspectives.
