Lectures Bachelor program
All Bachelor lectures in the 1st, 2nd and 4th semester - all of them in German only(!) - are predominantly linked to the current projects in the Bachelor design studios and provide all necessary information on the theory of landscape design. The additional independent study of scientific literature is necessary to get a deeper understanding of the core issues of landscape architecture. Manuscripts are available for all registered Bachelor students also in order to get well prepared for the written exams at the end of each semester.
Please note: You are obliged to register for the lecture and (seperately!) for the exams in TUMonline.
Master please note: the lectures in the 1st and 2nd semester do not count for the Master of Landscape Architecture (§35)
2nd semester Bachelor lecture in landscape architecture (not eligible for Master students)
Content
The exercise "History of Landscape Architecture" deals with the development of landscape architecture since the beginning of the 19th century in the context of urban planning, socio-political and scientific developments. The excercises and related lectures shed light on changes in the self-image of the profession, in concepts of urban green planning and exemplary works of public and private green spaces in international comparison.
The objective of the excercise is learning current and historical design patterns and design elements, as well as the historical basics in landscape architecture.
Exam
At the end of the semester, 3 of 5 exercises must be passed for a successful completion of the course. No separate exam registration is required - exam and assessment are integrated into the module WZ1097 Orientierendes Projekt Landschaftsplanung 1.

4th semester Bachelor lecture (offered only in summer semester)
The lecture is part of the Module AR71145: Theory in Landscape Architecture. This module consists of two lectures:
- 4th semester: Theory in Landscape Architecture 1 (LV 0000000932)
- 4th semester: Theory in Landscape Architecture 2 (LV 0220970199)
Content: The lecture "Theory in Landscape Architecture 1" is held in summersemester parallel to the cooperativedesign studio "Landscape Architecture and Urban Design". Students will get acquainted with basics theories in landscape architecture, useful instruments both for the analysis and the design process, especially with regard to urban planning. Theses concepts will not only be explained by studying current examples of landscape architecture but also by looking at instructive examples from architecture, urban planning and art. The videos of the lectures will be available each Tuesday from 8:00 o'clock until Wednesday at 23:30 o'clock.
Language of lecture: German only(!) (Scripts will be available in English)
