Short-term design

The vestibule, a space at the entrance to our institute that is usually ignored but passed through every day, will be the focus of this short term design. To mark the 40th anniversary of the institute, we are looking for design concepts that reinterpret this architectural transitional space and no longer see it as a purely functional passageway, but as a threshold that captures the atmosphere, history and special moments of the place. The short designs will primarily work with translucent, milk glass-coloured or opaque adhesive foils as a medium. Creative means such as light, colour, reflection or typography can be used to make the space tangible as a carrier of atmosphere, memory and stories.
The design ideas will be developed using a 1:20 scale model and explained in text form. The plan is to realise the most convincing design on a scale of 1:1.
